I was told that as a teacher you would see different "waves" or generations of students the longer you stay in a school. This year marked my 5th year at NMS and I definitely was unsure of what this next wave would look like. This program has been fortunate to see great success thanks to awesome students these past years. This next wave has proven to continue our tradition of excellence. It has been another level of fun to have younger siblings, cousins, and doppelgängers of former students. Despite the similarities this new group has it's own voice and personality. What hasn't changed is the amount of fun it is to go to work every day and create something beautiful with all of these young adults. This includes starting a Jazz choir and getting gold at ISSMA Jazz contest for the first time.
Receiving gold in all solos and ensembles in our first time at ISSMA district contest. Having the largest 6th grade choir this program has ever seen. Who can forget Titations receiving GOLD WITH DISTINCTION with 2 perfect scores. This of course all lead to our Choir program and our Music Department recieving the ISSMA All-Music award for the first time in MCS history. I think it is safe to say that this program is in great hands with this new wave of students.
I will say it again, and again, I am so thankful for the opportunity to make music with these individuals every day. This evening is not just a concert but a celebration of what these students have created. Thank you for your continued support of the Titan Choirs!
